Raikou is a Legendary Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Gold and Silver (1999). It is one of the three Legendary beasts resurrected by Ho-oh after the destruction of the Brass Tower. Raikou is associated with lightning and is said to appear in the wake of storms. Its design draws inspiration from tigers and traditional Japanese thunder gods, symbolizing power and speed.
In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Raikou cannot be encountered through standard in-game methods. Historically, Raikou was made available in certain regions via special events or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection distributions. Players might also obtain Raikou through cross-game transfers from compatible titles like Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver. Its status as a Legendary Pokémon makes it extremely rare and exclusive to specific promotional campaigns.
